Safety Tips

Most Aurora meetups are just good company for coffee, a walk or a movie. These habits help keep it that way. Read them before your first plan, and again whenever something feels off.

Trust your gut.

At a glance

  • Meet in public. Cafes, parks and busy places.
  • Tell a friend. Share your plan from the app.
  • Guard your info. Never share money or OTPs.
  • Emergency? Call 112. Then report to us.

01Before you meet

  • Check the profile. Look for the verified badge, consistent photos and a real bio. Be careful with profiles that have one photo or no details.
  • Chat in the app first. Keep conversations on Aurora until you feel comfortable. We cannot help with chats on other apps.
  • Video call if unsure. A quick call can confirm the person is who they say they are.
  • Go at your own pace. You never owe anyone a meetup, your number or your social media.

02At the meetup

  • Pick a busy public place, such as a cafe, mall, park in daylight or popular restaurant. Never meet at a home, hotel room or isolated spot for a first plan.
  • Share your plan with a trusted friend using the Share button. Tell them who, where and when, and check in after.
  • Arrange your own transport there and back. Do not accept a lift from someone you have just met.
  • Keep your phone charged and your belongings with you.
  • Watch your food and drinks. Keep them in sight, and know your limits with alcohol.
  • Stick to the plan. If someone pushes to move somewhere private, say no.
  • Leave whenever you want. If something feels wrong, you do not need a reason to go.

03Protect yourself online

  • Never send money, UPI payments, gift cards or crypto to someone you met on Aurora, whatever the story.
  • Never share OTPs, passwords, bank details or Aadhaar and PAN numbers. Aurora staff will never ask for your OTP.
  • Be careful with links and apps that other people ask you to install.
  • Keep personal details private at first, including your home address, workplace and daily routine.
  • Think before sharing photos. Do not share intimate images. Sending or forwarding them without consent is an offence.

04Red flags

Report the profile if someone does any of these.

  • asks for money, investment or financial help;
  • pushes you to move to WhatsApp or another app very quickly;
  • refuses to video call, or their photos look like a model or stock image;
  • pressures you to meet somewhere private or change the plan last minute;
  • sends sexual messages or photos you did not ask for;
  • seems to be under 18;
  • gets angry when you set a boundary.

05Aurora safety tools

  • Verified profiles: a badge shows the person completed selfie verification.
  • Rough area only: your exact meeting place appears only after you both confirm.
  • Report and block: available from any profile, plan or chat. It is always free.
  • AI safety checks: spam and abuse are flagged for human review.
  • Share your plan: send the details to a trusted friend in one tap.
